My work is guided by intuition, materials, and experimentation. Each December I gather the work I’ve done that year and examine it to see if any themes emerge. Over the years, I’ve identified several repeating themes. Some relate to the concepts of EDGE (boundaries, constraints, upheavals) and EDGE EFFECT (diversity, growth, justaposition) and others derive from the Principles and Elements of Design (composition, line, shape, form, rhythm, texture, contrast, etc). Although I don’t typically do figurative work, some of the abstract pieces had a landscape quality.
